If you were looking forward to watching Carli D’Amato and friends take off on another cringetastic adventure, then prepare to be disappointed. Emily Head, who plays the Inbetweeners star took to Sunday Brunch to dash a nation’s dreams of a third film.
Sitting on the famous Sunday Brunch couch, Emily opened up to Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer about the success of the cult classic: “I think it took us all by surprise,”
“We all knew that it was something special, but we didn’t know everyone else was going to know that it was special. So yeah, it was quite an experience.”
But when pressed about playing Carli one more time she replied: “I don’t know. I think everyone sort of secretly hopes there will [be], I think we all probably secretly hope there would be, but I think it was such a special thing in the moment that you wouldn’t want to do it and get it wrong [or make something that] wasn’t what people were expecting.
“I think, to look back on something… It’s like if they do Friends again now, it wouldn’t be the same. I think it was really of the moment.”

It comes after James Buckley, who plays Jay Cartwright, also poured cold water all over another Inbetweeners movie. He said: “I think, especially after the reunion, me personally, I don’t want to ruin The Inbetweeners any more. At the moment, I wouldn’t want to go anywhere near it. I’m not sure we would be able to do it good enough.“
The success of the Inbetweeners catapulted the cast to celebrity status, which hasn’t sat well with James Buckley, who struggles with being ‘accidentally famous’.
He said: “The cons are… not being able to relax. Not being able to feel like you’re not ‘on’ when leaving the house, at any point. I don’t want to whinge about it, but it does make me anxious. It makes me very self-conscious.
“I’m accidentally famous. I’m not built to be famous. I’m not a star.

He continued: “But I feel constantly on edge. I’m getting closer and closer to never leaving my house again. I am struggling with it, and I’m not even that famous.
“I’m not Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt, but I really struggle with it. It’s something I find really difficult. People taking secret pictures of me… it fries my brain. Just come and talk to me, I’d love to talk to you. That’s gonna make my day.”
So, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting a new Inbetweeners film soon.
