Beach Boys’s Brian Wilson asks fans to boycott concert at hunting event featuring Donald Trump Jr.

Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson urged his fans to boycott an upcoming appearance by the group at an event sponsored by a hunting group where Donald Trump Jr., will also be speaking.

In a Monday afternoon tweet, Wilson wrote that he and another member of the group, Al Jardine, were powerless to stop an upcoming performance at the Safari Club International’s convention in Reno, Nev. Wilson and Jardine no longer perform with the group.

“This organization supports trophy hunting, which Both Al and I are emphatically opposed to. There’s nothing we can do personally to stop the show, so please join us in signing the petition,” Wilson tweeted.

The tweet then linked to a Change.org petition that included a picture of Trump Jr. and his brother Eric Trump posing with a leopard they had hunted on an expedition.

Wilson and Jardine no longer tour actively with the band. Mike Love, who also co-founded the Beach Boys, is expected to appear at the Safari Club International event. He did not return NBC’s requests for comment.

A spokesman for the president’s eldest son noted that Trump Jr. was happy to add Wilson to a list of celebrities “triggered” by his political views.

“Don is looking forward to his speech about hunting and the importance of conservation at the Safari Club convention and is also proud to add Brian Wilson to the long list of liberal Hollywood elites who he has successfully triggered,” said Andy Surabian in an email to The Hill.
