One of man’s greatest achievements in recent years is surely online shopping. But nothing’s perfect. We’ve all had the heartbreak of waiting all day for some post, only to nip out for a few minutes and miss your slot.
And that’s exactly what happened to one customer when they received a text from an Amazon driver named Stephen saying he had tried to post a package but there was no one to collect it.
Yet rather than make Stephen go through the rigmarole of having to organise another delivery slot, the recipient asked the helpful driver to simply pop their parcel in the recycling bin.
But after seeing just what was inside – a pile of empty Buckfast bottles – Stephen decided to rename it the ‘Bucky bin’.
The customer shared her story on Reddit, with screenshots of their conversation and photographs of the parcel.

Their friendly exchange begins with a text that reads: “Hi there, its Stephen from Amazon, I tried to deliver your parcel but no answer and no neighbour to take in, tried calling to see if you had a safe space I could leave it but no answer.”
Replying an hour later, the recipient said: “Hi Stephen. I’m at work at the moment – won’t be home until after 6pm. If you are in that area again just stick the parcel in the glass recycle bin at the end of my driveway with 86 on it. Thanks x.”
Since the post was shared, users have been flooding the comment section to praise Stephen for being such a top LAD and making sure the woman got her package.
One person wrote: “Stephen is the real MVP. Still delivering over an hour after the original text.”

Referencing the struggles they have had in the past with their own post, another said: “Right? My delivery people won’t even ring the doorbell. Just chuck it on the porch and they’re off.”
“I’m amazed someone who drinks that much Bucky can write coherent sentences. That’s someone who could take down Captain America and still make it to the bar for last orders,” added a third.
But this story didn’t come as a surprise to one person, who said it was common practice. They said: “Amazon drivers tend to do that, at least in my area they often try again the same day if they don’t get you the first time.
“Always makes me feel bad if I’ve missed them, I assume they get some penalty for missing the delivery and that’s why they’re so persistent.”
