Drone Captures Great White Shark Swimming Just Metres Away From Kids

A drone photographer has caught the moment a whopper of a Great White shark swims towards the shore, while a group of unsuspecting kids play in the water.

The footage, filmed by The Rogue Droner and posted on their YouTube channel, shows the 10ft-long shark near the shore at the popular Tuncurry Beach in Forster, New South Wales, Australia.

Its outline can be seen in the water while a group of kids continue to play, completely unaware. The shark continues on its journey, heading into shallow water, where a bunch of people appear to spot it, and then heads back out to sea.

Accompanying the video, The Rogue Droner wrote: “Some say hunting is hard, but for this white shark, it’s child’s prey.”

Earlier this month a dad photographing his kids playing in the sea, also inadvertently filmed a Great White lurking nearby.

Dan Watson, a photographer and owner of YouTube channel Learning Cameras, was playing about with his drone camera while on a family trip to the seaside in Florida.

He spotted a shadowy shape in the background of his shots, and quickly realised he was looking at a huge shark.

Speaking to FOX35 Orlando, Dan said: “Kids were playing in the beach and I just decided, ‘Hey, now’s a good time to get a picture of them overhead.’

“Literally, as soon as I got it into the air, I started seeing a shadow moving through the water right towards them.”

Dan got the attention of his wife and told her to get the little ones out of the sea.

His wife Sally told the news outlet: “I was at the edge of the water and the kids were standing in the water and I was like, ‘Get out, get out, get out.’ I didn’t know why.

“So, he immediately brings the drone to me and he shows me the frame of the drone and you see that shark swimming right at our kids – it was terrifying.”

As the kids clambered out the water, the shark swam off in the opposite direction.

Sally added: “When you think of a shark, you think of them in deep water, you don’t think of them extremely close, and you don’t think they’ll come in knee deep water… It is terrifying to see them come that close to my kids.”
