Michelle Obama will release a follow-up to her best-selling memoir that encourages readers to journal about “what moves them and brings them hope.”
“Becoming: A Guided Journal for Discovering Your Voice” will hit shelves on Nov. 19, Obama’s publisher, Penguin Random House, announced Monday.
The guided journal is being promoted as a companion to the 55-year-old former first lady’s hit 2018 memoir, “Becoming.” Her book sold more than 10 million copies and launched an international tour that featured big-name stars — including Oprah Winfrey, Stephen Colbert and Sarah Jessica Parker — in conversation with Obama.
In an introduction penned by Obama for the $20 “Becoming” journal, she writes, “I hope you’ll use this journal to write down your experiences, thoughts, and feelings, in all their imperfections, and without judgment. … We don’t have to remember everything. But everything we remember has value.”
Obama’s publisher says the journal includes “more than 150 inspiring questions and quotes that resonate with key themes in Mrs. Obama’s memoir and that are designed to help readers reflect on their personal and family history, their goals, challenges, and dreams, what moves them and brings them hope, and what future they imagine for themselves and their community.”
