The New York Times Opinion section on Thursday night tweeted out a Star Wars-themed video that was critical of President Trump.
“A long time coming for a White House far, far from reality…Trump,” the video begins before using the Star Wars franchise’s signature scrolling introductions.
“Chaos has engulfed the Republic. For three years, Trump and his allies have ushered in the obliteration of moral norms for personal gain. But now, the president has launched a fresh assault on fair elections — the crowning glory of American Democracy,” it added.
It then went on to list unflattering statements about Trump that were previously listed in a Sept. 22 opinion column by David Leonhardt. The end of the video said that the clip had been inspired by Leonhardt’s piece.

It was not immediately clear whether the columnist was involved with the video.
The Hill has reached out to The Times for comment.
The clip came after the release of a declassified version of a whistleblower complaint that alleged that Trump attempted to use a July call with Ukraine’s president for his personal gain.
Trump has denied wrongdoing and has said that the complaint was “fake news,” while calling the White House officials who gave the whistleblower information about the call “close to a spy.”
A reconstituted transcript of his July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that was released by the White House on Wednesday appeared to align with some of the details included in the whistleblower complaint, showing him urging the foreign leader to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden.
