Passengers Left Baffled After Flight Attendant Climbs Into Overhead Lockers

Some jobs lend themselves to fun more than others. Balloon artists probably spend the majority of every day having a daft laugh, but if you work in an extremely regulated and safety-focused environment – like a flight attendant – then it’s probably a little trickier to squeeze the giggles in.

So without further ado, may I introduce you to a flight attendant in the US who baffled passengers by climbing up into the overhead baggage for no apparent reason.

Passengers flying from Nashville to Philadelphia on a Southwest Airlines plane were treated to the odd spectacle upon boarding. Veronica Lloyd was one such baffled passenger, who shared a series of tweets about the bizarre prank.

In one such tweet, she said: “I can’t get over how weird I find this. Southwest Airlines please get it together.”

Reflecting on the overhead human, Veronica said she got the impression it was supposed to be amusing, adding that the flight attendant stayed up there for ‘a solid 10 minutes’.

Speaking to Fox News, she said: “It was very interesting. I think she was doing it to try and be funny and make the passengers laugh.”

Indeed, it seems Veronica was right, as Southwest Airlines has since claimed that its staff are famous for this kind of wild banter.

A spokesperson told LADbible: “Southwest employees are known for demonstrating their sense of humour and unique personalities.

“In this instance, one of our flight attendants attempted to have a brief moment of fun with customers during boarding. Of course, this is not our normal procedure, and Southwest crews always maintain safety as their top priority.”

Hey – you don’t have to be crazy to work at Southwest Airlines, but it sure helps.

In all seriousness though, it’s nice that the company allows employees to muck around a bit, and we all know that flying can be a stressful experience, what with the queues, security checks and turbulence.

The problem here though seems to be that simply climbing into the overhead lockers isn’t really a joke as such, is it? It’s more like half a joke. If she’d climbed into the overhead locker, shut it and scared the living daylights out of the first passenger to open it, then that would have been funny.

Though arguably that kind of joke wouldn’t really help relax passengers.
