Police Stop Man Riding Scooter Naked Because He Was ‘Too Hot’

People often say there is a sense of freedom that comes with hitting the road on your scooter – but have you ever tried hitting the road bollock naked on your scooter?

Now that right there is a great sense of freedom – until the police inevitably pull you over and ask what the hell you’re doing, that is.

Officers in Märkisch-Oderland, in the eastern part of Brandenburg, Germany, asked this very question to a naked bloke on a scooter on Tuesday, with the bloke promptly explaining that he was too hot.

To be fair to the guy, it definitely was too hot. Yesterday, German meteorologists announced that the country’s 1947 temperature record for June had been broken in Coschen, where highs of 38.6C were recorded… And I think we can all agree that is sweltering sack weather.

What’s more, the guy wasn’t completely naked; that would be silly, after all. He made sure to slip on some shoes, to make sure he had a proper grip on the pedals, and a helmet to protect his head in case he fell off. Though if he did have a crash, emergency services would presumably wonder how on earth he managed to lose the clothes between his head and feet in the accident.

On balance though, you can’t help but feel the bloke could have at least slipped on some undies or a pair of short shorts. Just that small bit of fabric wouldn’t have too great an impact on his temperature and would prevent other motorists from being distracted by his passing ‘windsock’.

Fortunately for the bloke, police seemed to see the funny side and shared pictures of the man on Twitter, inviting people to take part in a caption competition.

They also let the man continue his journey once he’d whipped some kecks on. It is unclear where said kecks appeared from, though. Did the man have some on him, which he’d previously whipped off because he was just too damn hot? Or do German police carry spare trousers around during heatwaves, in case scooterers feel compelled to discard theirs?

Interestingly though, the police said the man hadn’t committed an offence.

They said: “Although being naked or driving naked is not illegal, people can be issued with an administrative offence charge if people feel disturbed by a person’s nudity.”

So basically it boils down to whether or not the general public consider your giblets disturbing.

The question then is simple – do you feel lucky, punk?
