Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on Wednesday responded to the backlash actor Chris Pratt has received after posting a photo holding a single-use plastic water bottle while at a gym, with the senator referencing his own viral moment in 2013 when he took an on-camera sip of water from a single-use bottle.
“I too was caught with a single use plastic water bottle a few years ago and the media wouldn’t stop talking about it either,” Rubio tweeted referring to a moment of him drinking water during his response to then-President Obama’s State of the Union address.

Rubio was mocked by many for the snafu, which he jokingly took in stride, with his political action committee even raising money off water bottle sales.
Pratt on Tuesday was called out by fellow actor and “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa for his Instagram photo he posted as part of a collaboration with Amazon that showed him posing at a gym with a single-use plastic water bottle in his hand.
Pratt apologized in response, saying, “Aquaman! You’re completely right. Dammit. I always carry my big gallon size reusable water jug with me too. I even had it that day!!!”
