Sully goes to Texans-Patriots game, gets kiss from JJ Watt

Sully, the Labrador service dog for the late President George H.W. Bush, got to spend part of his Sunday at the NRG Stadium ahead of the Houston Texans’ matchup against the New England Patriots.

During the trip, Sully was photographed giving a kiss to Texans defensive end J.J. Watt. The team tweeted photos of the moment from the sidelines on Sunday evening.

“13/10 would give Sully puppy kisses again,” the team captioned the photos on Twitter, while also giving a mention to the Twitter account belonging to America’s VetDogs. According to its website, the nonprofit trained Sully and placed him with Bush.

Later on Monday, a statue of Sully is scheduled to be erected in the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas.

The statue will reportedly be a life-size depiction of the pooch made of bronze.

Artist Susan Bahary, who sculpted the statue, said that she “wanted to capture in life-size bronze the beautiful loyalty and bond that our beloved president inspired in him and that was forever seared in our memories.”
