The Hill's 12:30 Report: Trump team fights back over Dem subpoena

Live footage of Trump blocking Democrats’ subpoenas:

and his private businesses are suing House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman  (D-Md.) to try to block a subpoena.

The subpoena: Cummings issued a subpoena to request financial records from President Trump’s accountant.

The lawsuit from the Trump team: “The lawsuit, which was filed Monday, asks a federal court in Washington, D.C., to prevent Cummings from obtaining records from Mazars USA, an accounting firm used by the president and his businesses, arguing congressional Democrats are abusing their subpoena power.”

When your friends make you choose sides in the divorce:

This morning, the Trump administration announced it will not renew waivers that allowed eight foreign governments to buy oil from Iran without getting sanctioned.

The White House said in a statement: “President Donald J. Trump has decided not to reissue Significant Reduction Exceptions (SREs) when they expire in early May. This decision is intended to bring Iran’s oil exports to zero, denying the regime its principal source of revenue.”

Livestream of the announcement:

Just now — Cain is no longer able:

President Trump just announced that former Republican presidential candidate  has withdrawn from consideration to be nominated to the Federal Reserve Board.

Trump tweeted: “My friend Herman Cain, a truly wonderful man, has asked me not to nominate him for a seat on the Federal Reserve Board. I will respect his wishes. Herman is a great American who truly loves our Country!”

Three new LGBTQ cases in the Supreme Court:

The Supreme Court has decided to hear three cases determining whether federal law protects LGBTQ individuals from discrimination in the workplace.

Yeah, but: The court ordered that two of the three cases be combined into one argument.

What happened in Sri Lanka:

“On Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka, coordinated bombings targeted churches, hotels and other sites, killing more than 290 people and injuring roughly 500 others. The attacks in Sri Lanka, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, are the largest carried out on South Asian Christians in recent memory.”

Including 39 tourists: The killed tourists are from Australia, Britain, China, Japan, Portugal and the U.S. The U.S. Embassy confirmed that at least four U.S. citizens were killed.

Any arrests?: 24 people have been arrested in connection with the attacks.

Who is responsible?: Sri Lanken officials said a little-known Islamist group called National Thowheeth Jama’ath carried out the attack with international help.

Here’s a primer on everything we know:

Where the attacks happened: Here’s a map of where the attacks occurred:

President Trump spoke with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe this morning and pledged the U.S.’s support.

The White House said in a statement: “President Trump pledged United States support to Sri Lanka in bringing the perpetrators to justice, and the leaders re-affirmed their commitment to the fight against global terrorism.”

We are officially at the ‘everyone and their mother’ phrase of presidential announcements:

Rep.  (D-Mass.) announced he is running for president in 2020.

What to know about Moulton: The former Marine is centering his campaign on gun control, national security and climate change. He rose to prominence as a leader challenging ‘s (D-Calif.) path to the speakership.

His campaign announcement on Twitter: “I’m running for President to build a strong and safe country, create the jobs of the future, and elect leaders we can be proud of. Join our mission.”

Watch his campaign announcement video:

Via Politico’s Michael Kruse, here’s a profile of Moulton from July 2017:

There’s only room for one of us in this town:

Via The Hill’s Jonathan Easley, “‘s fast-rising 2020 presidential campaign is cutting into ‘s viral mojo.”

They’re natural competitors: Buttigieg, 37, and O’Rourke, 46, are two of the youngest candidates. “Both candidates are seeking to convince Democrats that the party needs a generational change as they chase former Vice President  and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who are both in their 70s.”

How this could play out:

cc @RobertMueller:

White House counselor  said that special counsel  did not use the word “exoneration” because it was “unnecessary.”

When asked on ABC’s “This Week” if the report exonerated Trump: Conway responded, “Yes, and the word exoneration was unnecessary in the Mueller report and I would say inappropriate.”

This morning — say impeachment ONE MORE TIME:

President Trump pushed back on Democrats discussing impeachment.

He tweeted: “Only high crimes and misdemeanors can lead to impeachment. There were no crimes by me (No Collusion, No Obstruction), so you can’t impeach. It was the Democrats that committed the crimes, not your Republican President! Tables are finally turning on the Witch Hunt!”

Congratulations, Jenna Bush Hager!:

NBC’s “Today” co-anchor Jenna Bush Hager announced that she and her husband Henry Hager are expecting a baby boy.

Interesting read — ‘Here’s How TurboTax Just Tricked You Into Paying to File Your Taxes’:

Did you know if you make less than $66,000 a year, you can file your taxes for free? Well, TurboTax does not want you to know that. ProPublica’s Justin Elliott and Lucas Waldron tried it out and chronicled their step-by-step process. TurboTax does ~not~ make it easy. The process is pretty interesting:
