on Friday said his administration’s efforts to resolve a trade dispute with China and seek nuclear disarmament with North Korea amounted to cleaning up a “mess” created by the Obama administration.
“If you look at what we’ve straightened out, I call it the Obama-Biden mess,” Trump told reporters outside the White House. “We’re straightening it out, whether it’s North Korea … you were going to end up in a war with North Korea, and now the relationship is a good relationship.”
“You look at what has done with China … we lost our shirts with China [under the Obama administration], and now China is dying to make a deal,” he added.
The Trump administration’s trade negotiations with China erupted last month, resulting in new tariff action on billions of dollars’ worth of Chinese and American goods.
